Willard Beach
Ballito's main beach: lifeguards, shark nets, the promenade behind it and good waves out front.
Swimming
Willard Beach is the main swimming beach in Ballito. It has lifeguards on duty and shark nets, so it is the first choice for families. Swim between the flags and ask the lifeguards about conditions if the sea looks rough.
Surfing
The beach has several well-known breaks and hosts the Ballito Pro, one of the longest-running professional surf events in the world. Beginners can book a lesson with one of Ballito's surf schools, and board hire is easy to find.
Around the beach
The promenade runs behind the sand, with cafes, restaurants and holiday apartments close by. There are toilets and showers at the beach. Walk south along the promenade towards Salmon Bay, or north along the shore towards Thompson's Bay.
