Where to stay in Ballito

Ballito has everything from beachfront apartments and guest houses to hotels and luxury estates. Here’s how the area breaks down.

Central Ballito and the beachfront

Stay here to walk to the beach, the promenade, restaurants and shops. It is mostly holiday apartments and guest houses, with a few hotels along the shore. Expect it to be busy in December.

Salt Rock, Shaka’s Rock and Sheffield Beach

A few minutes north, these villages are quieter, with tidal pools, rock ledges and holiday homes, guest houses and the Salt Rock Hotel. Good for families and longer stays.

Zimbali, Simbithi and the estates

For a resort feel, the golf and forest estates south and inland of Ballito have luxury homes to rent and Fairmont Zimbali Resort. Security and quiet come at a higher price.

Tips for booking

Book early for December and Easter. Check parking, sea views, how many the place sleeps and whether it has backup power. If you’re flying in, King Shaka Airport is about 20 minutes away.
